HOW LONG HAD HE BEEN GONE? The fact was, he wasn’t even sure himself. Too much had happened as of late and too much, still.. unanswered. It’s as if all the work his father had done, was for nothing. An oblivion of more questions which would never receive their due. Time caught up well to the wolf’s days, evenings awake in thought but mostly on the hunt. All of him ached for the dislodged memory of ‘peace’ running far into July’s heat and that.. that should’ve never been ignored. Control seemed like the faraway fantasy among bustling idols zooming from corner to corner as he remained in the corner seat, ignoring their masked defeat in front of a mirror that’d never reflect anything but the truth. Or was that him? Kit hadn’t even realized her presence— scents of disappointment still filling his expression with guilt.

“Sojin— please. I’m sorry. There’s just..
a lot I have on my mind. Too much, in fact.”

No, don’t say sorry. It’s my fault.

She sighed and took a seat beside him, her eyes shifting from the activity around them, to his sunken form in the chair next to her. There was always a contrast in Kit whenever he was in the mood to go out, and when he wasn’t. Drastic enough that she knew it had been selfish to pretend she hadn’t clearly heard reluctance in his voice over the phone. I should’ve left you alone instead of begging you to come.. I just didn’t want to go to my first event in a year alone. There wasn’t much that could be done to rectify the situation, since she had already dragged him out with her. However, she wanted to think of something so that he wouldn’t sulk the entire evening.

People haven’t been very welcoming to me tonight.. Which, I expected somewhat, but— I think I may have underestimated it.
